Amrīkā kā k̲h̲udā / America’s God

We are men. Because of us

Man is free even today. Because of us

Cities swell with people. Because of us

Flowers bloom, fruit grows.

Our secrets are revealed. –

.

From us

(Everyone knows) that Asia asks for the alms of wisdom,

Africa, the alms of strength, Europe, the alms of wealth

It’s just a question of time—we consider it God.

.

From: Dard kā shahr (City of Suffering). Lāhaur: Naʼī maṭbūʻāt. 1965. p. 42
