Ek manẓar / A Scene

I saw her at noon

Under the shade of

That tree;

She

Was lovingly kissing

A baby goat

Held in her arms.

She saw me

And said:

Everyone at

Home’s asleep

I couldn’t

So I came out here.

But you?

Why are

You wandering about

In this burning sun?

I don’t remember

What I answered

But when

She heard it, she

Burst out laughing

Behind that tree

Where noon was standing.

That as

Many years ago

But my eyes

Still imprison

That whole scene.
